The Holocaust Education Lecture Series with Dr. Richard Freund

The Baltimore Hebrew Institute and the Peggy Meyerhoff Pearlstone Professorship in the College of Liberal Arts present the Holocaust Education Lecture Series with Dr. Richard Freund, Director of the Maurice Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies and Greenberg Professor of Jewish History at the University of Hartford. Dr. Freund is credited with directing and participating in over a dozen archeological digs as well as authoring multiple books about his research and findings.

  • Monday, February 11, 3:30-4:45pm, LA 4310 - "Finding Matilda: The Anne Frank of Lithuania"

           The amazing story and recently discovered dairy of Matilda is featured.

  • Monday, February 11, 6:00-8:00pm, LA 4310 - "The Good Nazi"

          Premiering on PBS in April 2019, "The Good Nazi" is a documentary film that chronicles how many Vilna Ghetto Jews survived thanks to the efforts of a Nazi officer, Major Karl Plagge.

  • Tuesday, February 12, 7:00-9:00pm, LA 4310 - "The Archeology of the Holocaust"

          Dr. Freund will share the backstories of his discoveries including the mass burial pits at the Sobibor death camps, Lithuanian escape tunnels, and more.
