The process of growing up can be beautiful but it is also one that can expose pain and sadness. Lily Ertel's work relishes in the saccharine sweetness of a world marketed to a little girl, and how that gets distorted through development. Throught the use of a saturated painting palette, collage, sculpture, wax and printmaking Lily hopes to capture a tactile environment that either masks or diminishes a feminine pain. The focus on the collective female power lifts up the aches that surround Lily's work.
