This panel will feature three speakers of diverse genders and sexual orientations from each of these three religions who will discuss their lives and experiences in their respective religions.
Panelists:
Dr. Keisha E. McKenzie is Program Officer at Auburn, a multifaith leadership development center that equips leaders of faith and moral courage pursuing social justice. Educated in the UK, Jamaica, and West Texas, Keisha has worked across the U.S. as a communication/development strategist, faith organizer, board member, and speaker.
Imam Daayiee Abdullah is the Executive Director of MECCA Institute, a Muslim think tank and online Islamic theological chaplaincy program that teaches an inclusive Quranic liberation theology for Muslims and non-Muslims living in modern, multi-faith, and secular societies. Imam Daayiee provides pastoral counseling for Muslim youth, adults, their families and friends. He performs same sex, opposite sex and interfaith marriages for Muslims of diverse backgrounds.
Jessica Chery-Hise is a Hispanic lesbian who was born into the Jehovah‘s Witness religion and raised as one until she left the religion 12 years ago. Nearly her entire family are currently devout Jehovah's Witnesses and have been for decades. Shortly after leaving, she met her wife, and relocated some time thereafter starting over with her new life in Baltimore. She has been married for eight years and she and her partner are raising two young sons.
