Dr. Eduardo Mendieta, Professor of Philosophy and Affiliate Professor in the School of International Affairs at Pennsylvania State University, will deliver the 2017 Ian Moore Memorial Lecture. His talk is titled "Severed Heads and White Ignorance." Dr. Mendieta has authored or edited dozens of philosophical books and published hundreds of journal articles, book chapters, encyclopedia entries, translations, and review articles. His philosophical interests range across such areas as global ethics, biophilosophy, contemporary European philosophy, Latin American liberation philosophy, critical theory, race theory, colonialism, and cosmopolitanism.
This event is free and open to the public. A reception follows the lecture. The Ian Moore Memorial Lecture is made possible by the Ian Moore Philosophy Fund and is sponsored by the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies in the College of Liberal Arts.
