Abstract: The recent confirmation of discoveries by the Kepler mission vastly increases the number of planets known to be orbiting other stars. These planets come in a bewildering range of sizes and distances from their star, leading to a wide array of environments. We will investigate the ranges of these environments and, following Mark Twain’s observation, present a wholesale return of conjecture out of a trifling investment of fact.
Telescope viewing after the show, weather permiting.
