In response to numerous acts of racial injustice and police brutality towards Black Americans, many educational institutions have begun the work to determine how to better prepare students to work with minoritized populations. Research has shown that cultural competence training improves the attitudes, knowledge, and skills of clinicians related to caring for diverse populations.

Furthermore, social justice has been coined as a term to promote fair treatment in healthcare so that disparities are eliminated. Therefore, the purpose of this project was to provide social justice training to 170 first year graduate students pursuing careers as a health professional. Student outcomes from the trainings will be explored along with a review of ways in which this training was integrated into course curriculum.

The Multiculturalism in Action Brown Bag Series is focused on showcasing the multicultural and diversity related scholarly activities taking place on Towson University's campus. This is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to meet and engage with each other around multicultural scholarship in a supportive space.
